My friend Gregg Piburn is a wonderful consultant who helps organizations that are struggling with conflict.  I heard him say recently that there are 3 universal hot buttons.

  • Things that make one feel devalued or unloved
  • Things that make one feel like they are losing control
  • Things that make one doubt their self-worth

I don’t know about you, but those are things that can really get me to react.  When you’re communicating with people, either face-to-face or through written word, it’s important to make sure that you’re not pushing people’s hot buttons.  Be aware of these 3 golden nuggets and you’re likely to avoid conflict in your life.
