Merry Christmas!  Why If you’re like most of us, you’ll probably put on a few extra pounds over the holiday season.  It’s no wonder with all of the opportunities to grab a cookie or sip on a glass of eggnog (my personal favorite.)

As soon as the holidays are over, many of us will start thinking about how to shed those unwanted pounds.  We’ll see news stories talking about weight loss and gyms will start running more commercials.  Everywhere you turn next week, you’ll see stories that remind you that the key to weight loss is diet and exercise.  But which part is really the most important part, the diet or the exercise?  Actually, when you think about it, people don’t tell you to diet or exercise, do they?  They encourage you to diet and exercise.

So what’s all of this have to do with web design and search engine optimization?  Well, I often tell my clients that in order to rank well on Google, they must blog and get other sites to link to their site.  It’s about doing both of those things simultaneously.  Do one without the other and you’ll likely see lackluster results but do them both at the same time and something magical happens.  You start moving up higher and higher in the search results.  There are a number of other factors at play, but honestly, those are two of the best Christmas presents I can give you.  Blog and build links consistently.  Give it a shot and see if you’re not jumping for joy, this time next year.  Until next week, Merry Christmas.  I wish you and your family a blessed holiday.
