Marketing is an essential part of any small business budget.  After all, how are you supposed to sell your product if no one knows about you?  But, it’s important to make sure you allocate your marketing dollars wisely to get the best return on your investment.

Have you seen a spike in sales and wondered why?  Is it the new website design, the email campaign, the brochures?  Measuring your marketing efforts will help you figure it out. And, it doesn’t have to be a daunting task.

Google Analytics provides tons of information about your website including the number of page views, the bounce rate, and the conversion rate. Basically, it helps you determine where traffic is coming from and what people do when they get to your site. We offer free classes on Google Analytics the first Wednesday of every month that will help you make sense of all the data. To RSVP visit our Events page.

There are many other ways to measure the effectiveness of your marketing campaigns including assigning unique phone numbers or unique coupon codes to each campaign.  Then you can easily determine if the client got the code or phone number from your blog, the email blast that went out, or the direct mail campaign. Some simple tracking goes a long way in helping you determine how to best allocate your marketing dollars.
