Taking Responsibility

“Every organization is perfectly designed to get the results it gets!” You can replace “organization” with all kinds of things: team, relationship, weight loss plan, money issues, etc.

A great friend, Richard Fagerlin was the creator of this profound statement. I hate this phrase and love it at the same time. What it really is saying… you are the one to blame when your weight loss plan becomes a weight gain plan or when your business is cash poor or when your child starts acting out. Yes, sometimes the actions of others are involved but if there is mutual respect, then these mishaps are not likely going to occur. In the case of your business, blaming the economy can only go so far. At some point, you have to look inward and see that the rules of the game (business) have changed and you can either continue playing the blame game or suck it up, get to work and make something happen.
