Can Digg Really Increase Your Website Traffic?

Have you heard about digg.com yet?  If you haven’t, you may want to check it out.  It’s a great website.  I really like it because their users are able to vote for content which can help me to sift through the massive amounts of content on the Web.  Now I don’t have to read through all of the junk that I get in my email just to stay abreast of the latest trends.  I can use Digg to find out which articles are worth reading.  It’s like getting a 5-star rating for a hotel or a restaurant.

So how can you use Digg to increase your website’s traffic?  Post your own content on Digg.com.  If it’s good stuff, it will get picked up and others will vote for it.  Get enough votes and your site just might make it onto the digg.com home page.  That’s when you’d better watch out.  Once you make it on to the home page, your traffic might just go through the roof.  It’s been known to even over load web servers and crash them.

Here’s a story that I found on Digg that talks about how Time.com increased their website traffic by 164% usin Digg.
