SEO Lesson: "Website Design in Greeley"

“Website design in Greeley” is a phrase that a lot of website designers over in Greeley would like to be found for when someone searches Google.  Then why are so many designers having a hard time getting their sites ranked for phrase that would help get more traffic to their own websites?

I don’t know because it’s not really that tough.  If you follow a few simple SEO rules you can get your site ranked for a particular phrase in a matter of days, especially if you focus your efforts on a single phrase.  Here’s what I’m talking about.

Until last week, I hadn’t ever focused any of our SEO efforts on the phrase “website design in Greeley.”  Naturally Red Rocket’s site wasn’t listed anywhere when you’d search for that phrase.  Then two days ago I wrote a blog post entitled “website design in Greeley.”   I just checked Google and now it’s listed at #15 on Google when you search for “website design in Greeley.”  That’s not too shabby for 2 days.  And that’s just one blog post.  With the addition of a couple more posts talking about things like websites or website design, I wouldn’t doubt if we’re on the first page within a week or two.  It’s not rocket science.  It’s all about following the guidelines that Google has set in order to please them with your site.

Let’s face it, Google is in the business of organizing the information on the web.  We’re in the business of designing websites that rank well on Google.  And you’re a business owner in Greeley wanting to push your website to the top of Google.  Here’s the trick to using all three to your advantage.   When Google sees that we’re making every effort to make their job easier, they reward you with higher placement in their results pages.  We follow their rules.  Your site moves up.  You get more business.  You win.  Pretty simple.

Here’s a brief overview of some of things Google likes.  They want to see information organized in a logical manner.  They want to see clean code, written so that they can determine what is code and what is visible content.  They want you to make it clear that your page is about one central topic.  Otherwise they struggle to know what your page is really about.  Look at it this way, our blog post that was about “website design in Greeley” was really all about “website design in Greeley.”  That’s all I talked about.   I didn’t stray off-topic and start talking about things like the Greeley Mall or the Greeley Stampede.  It was focused on just that one topic.  The headline was “Website design in Greeley.”  And then the following paragraphs talked about nothing but websites or getting a website design.  Also notice that the word “Greeley” was used quite a bit too.

As soon as you start to stray off course, Google becomes confused and thinks, “Maybe this article isn’t all about website design in Greeley since they’re now talking about the Greeley Stampede.”  But as long as you stay on course, use your single keyword phrase consistently and do everything you can to make the page search engine friendly, you’ll probably find your website in the top 10 in no time.

If you’d ever like to sit down and have a cup of coffee, I’d be happy to discuss your website and how we might be able to help with your Google ranking.   Just remember, you found this post because it’s ranked at the top of Google.  We can do the same for your website.  Give us a call at 970-674-0079.
