Red Rocket’s Crystal Vilkaitis Nominated for Femtor Award
Windsor, Colo. – Crystal Vilkaitis, Red Rocket Media Group’s project manager, was nominated for an eWomenNetwork Foundation Femtor Award and was selected to attend the international conference.
The Femtor Award is for women in their 20s who have shown excellence in their professional and personal lives and in their humanitarian efforts.
When she received the news in early May that she was selected to attend the eWomenNetwork Annual International Conference & Business Expo, Vilkaitis said she cried.
“I was very, very excited, blessed and honored for such a prestigious chance,” said Vilkaitis.
Vilkaitis, 22, of Loveland, Colo, was nominated for the Emerging Leader Award in early March 2007. From the nominations, only a few are selected to attend.
“This year, there were 60 people nominated, and 24 were selected to go,” said Vilkaitis.
This year’s conference was held on June 7 through June 10, 2007, in Dallas. The 24 nominees were given exclusive access to behind-the-scenes events, including a private meeting with the Lifetime Achievement Award Winner Marilyn Tam.
“Being around these women in high positions is empowering,” said Vilkaitis.
Nearly 2,200 women from different fields and in various stages of their careers attended the conference.
“It was an honor to be nominated with the other emerging leaders,” said Vilkaitis. “These women are changing lives.”
Even though Vilkaitis did not win the Emerging Leader Award, she was able to meet a lot of other women and gained valuable insight into her own life.
“I learned a ton. Both professional and personal,” said Vilkaitis. “I was very inspired and found my passion.”
Vilkaitis wants to help other people and wants to eventually start her own non-profit organization.
